APPLYING YOURSELF

How to get that internship or job position you've been hoping for? Perhaps the most simple answer is to put yourself out there - meaning, attending Career Fairs and networking events (such as the frequent events happening here on the CPP campus), checking emails from your respective department, as well as ordering yourself some fresh new business cards to hand-out to potential mentors and employers!

In addition, the CPP campus often holds industry, LinkedIn, and Guest Speaker events to further aid our fellow Broncos in their future career endeavors. Checking out sites such as Indeed and LinkedIn's job search section are also helpful places to get yourself started on that sometimes tedious job hunt.

Looking for outfits and/or inspo? Check out the CPP Career Center's Clothes Closet located under the Marketplace and across from the Cultural Centers. Staff are always available for not only preparing your resumes and such, but Clothes Closet staff will gladly help select items you may need to complete an outfit for that upcoming networking or interview event. Students are allowed up to 5 FREE items per quarter - and believe us, you won't want to miss out on this offer if you're hoping to save time and money from shopping trips!

TIPS TO REMEMBER FOR INTERVIEWS & JOB HUNTING

- Ask questions about the culture of the company during the interview (it shows you hold an interest in the values and team-building opportunities)

- Visit the store location for the company you're applying for (mainly pertains to retail, but the more you know, the better)

- Research the company beforehand (you'll be sure to make a good impression!)

- Master your current position before moving on to the next (doing the best you can where you are shows commitment and work ethic employers are looking for)

- DRESS TO IMPRESS: If you know the company you're hoping to work for is corporate, dress accordingly, however, if the company is modern and more fashion-forward - kick it up a notch and show your uniqueness in accessories, patterns, and bolder colors. Being well-groomed is always best!

- Have several questions prepared to ask your interviewer for the end. This shows you're interested and well-prepared!

- Customize your resume given the job position you're applying for (a general resume lacks the special focus on the position and company). This also helps in the case of companies using keyword search software to sift through unrelated or less-related resumes!

HAPPY HUNTING!
