Michael Kors Takes on Versace

What comes to mind when you hear Versace? For me its luxury. What about Michael Kors? For me, to be honest, a little outdated...

If you have been keeping up with the recent news then you will have already heard that Donatella Versace just sold Versace to Michael Kors. And for what... 2.1 billion dollars? If you haven't been keeping up with the news, then surprise! 

Michael Kors has dabbled in the designer world for years, but is mainly known for his street sport style looks and accessories, mainly handbags. Versace on the other hand is known for their high end, luxe looks that many dream of owning. To compare a Michael Kors handbag retails under $500, whereas Versace's handbags are at least $1,500. Although Ms. Donatella Versace will still remain a creative director, will things really be the same for Versace?

I know this has caused quite the chaos on twitter, bringing people to bash Michael Kors and how it will degrade Versace, or how people have spent years saving up for Versace only to now be owned by Michael Kors. 

I personally am interested to see how these two partner up to create something new for the market that we haven't seen before. Combining Donatella's edgy and sexy looks with more street wear focused looks from Michael Kors as well as allowing Versace to reach a larger audience.
